Hello Soccer Fans,
This is my second message regarding King Cup 2010. Some of this is may look like a repeat because the first message went out to last year’s team managers, this one is going out to everybody. So much great stuff has gone on over the past 6 months. Let me recap. First off we completed another great tournament, thanks to your participation. Seattle got their very own Major League Soccer team, the Sounders FC. I went to my first game this past Sunday. Sorry to my friends in Colorado, but we have a pretty good team. 3 to nil, ouch. In April my wife and I went to Buenos Aires. We had a fabulous time. The best part was going to La Bombonera to watch Boca juniors trounce Venezuela. This was the last game of the regular season and their victory put them into the finals of the Copa Libertadores. It was a great game. Their star striker Palermo scored his 200th lifetime goal. It was electrifying.
Now it is time to start planning for the 2010 King Cup. I have secured the fields from the city of Las Vegas and I am waiting on the county for 2 more fields. Las Vegas has added two new turf fields and we secured them for our tournament. The park is called freedom park. We use the dirt lots there 3 years ago. They demolished the old park and built a brand new sports complex. The fields are scheduled to be completed later this year so we will be the first tournament on them. We should have 15 turf fields and 2 grass fields.
So all that being said, registration is now open. The price for registration is staying the same this year but we have less available team slots. Last year we had 139 teams with 15 teams on the waitlist that didn’t get to play and this year we expect to accommodate only 130 teams. Register now to guarantee your spot. 26 Teams have already registered.
This year we will have 8 separate brackets: Over 35, Over 40 Rec, Over 40 Rec again, Over 40 competitive, Over 48 Rec, Over 48 Competitive, Over 50 Rec, and Over 55. Final payment is due on or before November 13th 2009. At that time all unpaid registrations will be released and that teams slot to the next team on the waiting list. The first teams to pay will get top priority with game times and locations.
This year’s tournament travel service coordinator will again be Lori Lewis. She will be assisting with registrations and all your travel needs. She has worked with the tournament for 3 years now and is really excited about hearing from you all. Lori can be reached at 253-383-8000 or lori@travelcenter4u.com. If you have any special requests about schedules or teams you do or don't want to play, please let me know early. I'll look forward to hearing from you all as the summer comes on. If you have a website you would like me to add to our links page please let me know. If your team or club has their own website I'd love to throw the link up on our page. Also if you know any other great tournaments I can post their info on our website.
Have an Awesome 4th of July holiday and Happy Canada day to my Canadian friends! Thank you for all your years of making this tournament a pleasure to run. See you in January. I’ll write again with updates in a few short weeks. |
